About the project

An atlas you can step into

100 Digital Destinations maps places photographed in 360°. Each marker opens a virtual tour you can walk through, look around in, and share.

The project

A photograph shows what the photographer pointed at. A 360° panorama shows everything around one spot: the street behind you, the sky, the ground under your feet. Put enough of them together and you can explore a place before you go, or long after you have left.

The atlas grows one destination at a time. It now holds 8 destinations, 6 of them open, with 145 panoramas between them.

How the 360s are made

Every panorama is shot on location and stitched into a full sphere. Each one keeps its position on the map, so a tour follows the real geography of the place.

The tours open in TeraVerse, the 360° viewer of the Tera platform. It works in any browser, on desktop and on phones, with nothing to install.

Hosted on Tera

Every virtual tour in the atlas is hosted on Tera. This site is the map and the front door; when you press "Enter the tour" you step into the tour on Tera itself.

Tera is the platform destinations, hotels and venues use to bring 360° tours, maps and events into their own websites, so visitors can explore before they arrive and keep the places they like in their Digital Luggage. The same tours you see here can be plugged into a destination's own site.
